Foodways Poetry Contest


The Details
Calling writers of all ages! We are looking for original poems inspired by any element of Appalachian foodways: the cultural, social, economic, and ritual practices surrounding food, including production, preparation, sharing, and consumption of food. 14 poems will be chosen to be printed and packed into food boxes prepared by Morgan Community Support and Solutions and the OSU Extension Office for the Farm to Family Program, a mobile food pantry that addresses food scarcity each week of the summer when schools are out of session.
Awards:
- 14 poems will be chosen (one for each week of the program)
- 1st place poem $150
- 2nd place poem $100
- 3rd place poem $50
How to Enter
Deadline: May 30th, 2025
Poems should be 200 words or less. To enter, email alasfestival1024@gmail.com a copy of the poem along with the following author information: name, age, state/county of residence, and a 50 word bio.
