REVERSE EKPHRASIS EXHIBIT
For the second annual ALAS Festival, we shared poems from local and regional poets every two weeks throughout the spring and summer for use as inspiration to create new pieces of art telling powerful Appalachian stories. We especially highlighted the work of our two keynotes, which were author Ann Pancake and singer-songwriter Megan Bee. With two divisions available, we awarded a 1st and 2nd place in the adult division as well as a 1st place for student entries along with an award for a teacher that has inspired the student winner to keep creating.
